ARTIST’S STATEMENT RELATING TO OPENING SCENES
The unifying theme of my photographs relates to the cinematic concept of the opening scene. In a film, every scene opens with a specific shot. We immediately sense that something occurred just before that moment, or that something is about to occur. Then, through subsequent long, medium and close-up shots and through action and dialogue, we are brought further into the unfolding scenario. In a similar way, my photographs are meant to draw you into the image, compelling you to imagine your own story of the moments before and after the shutter was pressed. The unique thoughts and feelings of each viewer, stimulated by my photograph, echo the development of the opening scene in a film.
